HAMBURG TWP. — If you have a stinky pet, there’s a new service in Hamburg Township that may offer the perfect nasal remedy.
Vortex Car Wash, located at 7552 M-36, opened a standalone, self-service pet wash for customers in mid-October. The pet wash allows owners to take their furry friend in for a fun bath in a climate-controlled bay year-round. It comes with six soap options to keep dogs, cats and family friends of all shapes and sizes feeling fresh.
The cost of the pet wash is $15 for 20 minutes and includes features like a luxurious blow dryer and vacuum for that added “fluffing” so many canines prefer, says co-owner and Hamburg Township resident Beth Pacut, with a laugh. She owns Vortex Car Wash and the adjacent pet wash with her husband, John. Both are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The couple purchased Vortex Car Wash in late 2022. They’ve made several investments to the business over the last year. Adding a pet wash was on the wish list.
“We’ve put some money into the car wash, as it needed some fine tuning,” Pacut said. “But the pet wash is something the community needed, and we were excited to add it. There are (retailers) around where you can take your pet into a store for a wash, but we feel this is more convenient.”

Pacut says the pet wash has been averaging three customers per day during its first month of operation. One loyal customer is the Pacuts’ goldendoodle, Marlin. Thus far, mid-sized dogs seem to be the most common customers, but larger dogs, cats and other furry animals can benefit, as well.
“I dread giving Marlin a bath at home,” Pacut said. “It’s such a hassle, but we think this is a hassle-free solution. It’s easy to pull right in and out with no mess. The feedback we’ve received from customers so far is extremely positive.”
The Pacuts have largely promoted the business on social media, but investments will continue, including updates to the car wash, which is awaiting delivery of parts to further improve on the “touchless” experience. The car wash is automated. Customers will also soon be able to purchase gift cards for either service, Pacut said.
