Leading Irish pet retailer Petmania will publish information about pet insurance from An Post Insurance as part of a strategic partnership with the An Post subsidiary.

The initiative is aimed at educating pet owners about the importance of insurance to safeguarding their pet’s health and wellbeing.

Petmania will also offer promotions and discounts on pet cover with An Post Insurance, which has some 150,000 policyholders, at selected periods throughout the year.

At present, 60% of pet owners in Ireland do not have pet insurance, and 11% admitted to not having insurance while planning to look into it soon.

“Our goal at Petmania is to ensure that all pets across Ireland receive quality pet care and this new partnership with An Post Insurance Pet Insurance means that we can take that promise to our customers to the next level,” said Shane O’Keeffe, managing director of Petmania.

“They can now avail of information on insurance coverage through a pet retailer with whom they have built trust.

“We are excited to build this partnership with An Post Insurance, a trusted brand and insurance provider and a company that shares our values regarding pet health and wellness.

“We look forward to offering added-value products and pet insurance information to our pet customers who have their pet’s well-being in their best interest.”

Suzanne McGuinness, head of marketing & digital at An Post Insurance, said the company was delighted to partner with Petmania to promote pet health and wellness.

“At An Post Insurance, we recognise the important role our pets play in our lives, offering companionship, joy, and unconditional love,” she continued.

“Through our collaboration with Petmania, we aim to provide customers with information on our insurance policy that may provide an added layer of protection for their beloved furry friends.

“Information on An Post Insurance Pet Insurance products is now available at Petmania stores and on petmania.ie. We look forward to helping you ensure your pet gets the care they deserve.”

Over the past six months, Petmania has opened two new stores in Ireland and has plans to open its 17th store later this year.

Petmania will publish information about An Post Insurance on its website.

The company has also expanded its service offering to include microchipping, grooming, and dog training, and it has also opened dedicated interactive customer hubs.

An Post Insurance Pet Insurance will have information available across two of Petmania’s newest stores in Athlone and Galway, through digital display, brochures, and display stands, with the view of being rolled out to all other stores in the coming months.

One Direct (Ireland) Ltd, trading as An Post Insurance, posted turnover of €888.1m in 2022, and the company reported net assets of €811m.
