Elvis was nothin’ but a hound dog — until he found his happily ever after!

A dog named after the late King of Rock ‘n’ Roll was the last pup standing after an adoption event at The Anti-Cruelty Society (ACS), a Chicago animal shelter.

Following the Nov. 11 event, 22 dogs and 39 cats were adopted, and 3-year-old Elvis was the only dog that remained, per the the ACS’ Facebook page.

Shortly after, the shelter asked for help finding the “handsome ham his forever home” in a post that was picked up by several media outlets.

“Elvis is the only dog that didn’t find a home during our Fall in Love adoption event,” the shelter wrote. “He met a lot of potential adopters but sadly did not get adopted. Help us find Elvis a family to love!”

In the post, the ACS described Elvis as a “3-year-old meatball” with “the silliest personality.”

“His giant smile lights up every room he enters. Elvis is a snuggler so he hopes you are okay giving up your personal space,” the shelter wrote.

Elvis arrived at the ACS as an injured stray dog. “He was not putting weight on his back leg and after taking x-rays, we learned that he had a fracture of the pelvis,” the post said, adding that the “fracture has healed while in our care, but Elvis will be prone to arthritis in his future.”

Three days later, the patient pup found his forever home with a couple who have a special connection to their new pet — one of them used to work as an Elvis Presley impersonator.

Loren Michael Agron, the former impersonator, and his partner, Drew Wilhelm could not help falling in love with the smiley pup, ACS announced with a Facebook post on Friday.

“Elvis has LEFT the building!” the shelter wrote alongside a photo of the trio. “His adopters had been waiting for the right time to welcome a dog into their family and once they saw Elvis on the news, they couldn’t deny that it was fate!”

Agron and Wilhelm plan to keep the snuggly pup’s “iconic name,” per the shelter.

“This couple is head over heels in love with their new family member and already has a dog bed and tons of toys waiting for him at his forever home,” the post read. “Loren is a dedicated ACS supporter and has hosted many of ACS’s fundraising events as Chicago’s fabulous drag queen, Debbie Fox! We couldn’t be happier for Elvis who finally got his happily ever after!”

Wilhelm also shared a message about the couple’s new pup in the post. “When no one else wanted him, we found him,” the new adopter said. “We’re all a bunch of misfits.”

Since welcoming Elvis into the family, Wilhelm has shared a glimpse into their first couple of days together on social media.

On Saturday, alongside a photo of the pup sleeping, he wrote, “Rushed home from work to hang out with Elvis. Took him for a long walk, gave him dinner, got like 5 minutes of play time and this little meatball just knocked out.”

“My god can this boy snore! I had to turn the TV volume up!” he added.

Wilhelm shared several more photos of the dog on Sunday — including several shots of the dog walking by the lake. According to his owner, Elvis has been recognized from his stint on the news twice while strolling Chicago.

“Update as requested. After a morning of napping and snuggles Elvis got his first view of the lake!” he began the post. “I can’t believe how quick this guy has settled in. His personality is shining through so much.”
