As you’re prepping your Thanksgiving Day spread, be sure to check and make sure none of the ingredients have been a part of recent national food recalls due to concerns for foodborne illness.

Additionally, make sure you check the food purchased for your four-legged family members because a recent recall of cat and dog food was initiated due to concerns that both pets and people could become ill after handling contaminated food.

Here is a list of the products recalled since Nov. 1, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration website.

Whole and cut cantaloupe

Vinyard Fruit and Vegetable Company, located in Oklahoma City, initiated a voluntary recall of all fresh-cut cantaloupe products due to concerns over salmonella contamination. The cantaloupe was sold as part of melon cups, fruit mixes and medleys at retail and wholesale locations with best by dates through Nov. 20.

Customers can contact Jennifer Vogler at 405-639-2451 with questions or concerns.

Additionally, whole cantaloupes sold under the Malichita / Z Farms Cantaloupes brands have been recalled for the same salmonella concern.

Peaches, plums and nectarines

If you were planning to make a fruit tart you may want to check the peaches, plums or nectarines on hand to ensure they are not part of the HMC Farms recall of fruit purchased through Nov. 15. These stone fruits are at risk of being contaminated with listeria.

Contact the company’s consumer information desk at 844-483-3867, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with questions or concerns.

Dry pet food

TFP Nutrition has recalled all dry dog and cat food formulas manufactured in their Nacogdoches, Texas, facility due to the risk for salmonella contamination.

There is risk of illness both to individuals handling the pet food and pets who consume it, according to the recall.
