LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Good news for pet owners who could use some help feeding their animals: Free dog food and cat food will be available a pop-up event happening this week.
The Kentucky Humane Society will host a Pet Food Bank on Wednesday, July 10, from 1-3:30 p.m. in the gravel lot next to its Sam Swope Pet TLC location at 241 Steedly Drive, according to a news release Tuesday.
Hill Pet Nutrition donated the food for the event, which will continue until 3:30 p.m. while supplies last.
“We’re so grateful for this opportunity to lend a helping paw,” KHS Shelter Operations Director Sara Rehfeld said in a written statement. “We know that the best place for animals to be is in a safe home with people who love them. So, if there is any opportunity for KHS to help, we aim to do it. We are so grateful for Hill’s Pet Nutrition’s generous donation to make this event happen.”
KHS also offers pet owners free advice through its Pet Resource Services department. KHS also has a mobile veterinary clinic called the CARE-a-van. The CARE-a-van mobile veterinary clinic visits neighborhoods throughout Kentucky to provide affordable pet care.
Services currently include vaccines, heartworm tests, microchips, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and nail trims, pet wellness exams and spay/neuter surgery.
