MARTINS FERRY — Anna Marie Ayers Elementary is hosting its inaugural “Stuff the Bus” holiday gift donation event to provide students in need with toys and clothing this holiday season.

All donations must be new items, and the school is accepting toys, coats, hats, gloves, shoes and other clothing items. Any business interested in participating can contact the school by Wednesday, and school staff will arrange a date and time to pick up donations.

“Our goal is to fill an entire school bus with donations, and we appreciate your help in trying to make that happen,” Principal Nick Stankovich said.

For more information or to donate items to the school, call 740-635-2444.

Ayers Elementary is also giving back this holiday season by collecting donations for the Belmont County Animal Shelter.

Quality Rentals in St. Clairsville is hosting a Christmas tree decorating contest. Second-graders from St. Clairsville Elementary, Bellaire Elementary and Ayers Elementary are all competing.

Second-graders at Ayers Elementary decorated their tree with photos of local animals that are up for adoption. The school is also collecting food, treats, toys, pet beds, cleaning supplies and other items to support the Belmont County Animal Shelter.

The shelter wish list can be found at belmontcoshelter.com. Donations can be dropped off at the school until Dec. 8.

Anyone can vote on Quality Rentals’ Facebook page by liking the post that features their favorite Christmas tree.

According to Quality Rentals’ Facebook page, the winner will receive a visit and presents from Santa. The winner will be announced Dec. 11.
